Nigerians have been charged to be conscious of the fact that whatever they do would speak for them in the future. This admonition was given by the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, Prof. Kolawole Salako, during the commissioning of an electric signage, donated by a former Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Oluwafemi Balogun, to mark his 68th birthday. According to Prof. Salako, the signage would serve as direction to the Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building, which is University’s main event centre, and help everyone to be conscious of time. The Vice-Chancellor said Prof. Balogun was always concerned about the development of the University, adding that the idea was mooted by him.
“Years after you left office as Vice-Chancellor, your landmark impacts while in the saddle, stood the test of time and living conspicuously and infectiously on its trail by imposing enduring legacies. As we celebrate your birthday today, we pray that this day will mark the beginning of another glorious chapter in your life. Your remarkable qualities of diligence, discipline, transparency, accountability, fairness, justice, passion for excellence and fear of God are exemplary”. Giving the vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Bolanle Akeredolu-Ale appreciated Prof. Balogun for the donation, even as she urged members of staff to live for a better tomorrow. Prof. Balogun was represented at the commissioning by Prof. Michael Ajayi of the Department of Agricultural Administration, College of Agricultural Management of Rural Development (COLAMRUD) of the University. At the occasion, a big birthday card was presented to Prof. Balogun by the Vice-Chancellor.
