FUNAAB continues to fulfil mandate, says VC

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, Prof. Olusola Kehinde, has reiterated that the University is set up for three main reasons, which constitute the tripodal mandate of the institution. He made this known while speaking at the press conference, which was organised in commemoration of the 31st Convocation Ceremony of the University.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the institution was established for the purpose of teaching to produce competent and well-baked graduates, and to undertake research as an institution, adding that the third mandate is to engage the community in order to be of service and extend knowledge to the general public. He said in ensuring that FUNAAB moves forward, the management established the Conflict Resolution and Policy Advisory Committee, adding that it was necessary as an institution to have group of elders, who could step in and mediate whenever there was an issue in the University system as well as the Career Services and Linkages with the backing of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), noting that the unit was established to enhance the employability of FUNAAB graduates.
Prof. Kehinde stressed that the management also established the University Equipment and Maintenance Unit for maintaining and sustaining the integrity and functionality of different acquired equipment. He emphasised that the Directorate of University Farms (DUFARMS) had spearheaded the agricultural revitalisation programme of the University, adding that the institution had also engaged in collaboration with some private firms. The Vice-Chancellor revealed that the University Senate had approved the floating of eight new programmes, noting that the award of Best University of Agriculture in Africa and 7th Best Globally by the Times Higher Education World University Ranking was as a result of dedication by members of staff and students.
