FUNAAB graduates 3,574 students, honours Jega, Adeola
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Ogun State, has graduated a total of 3,574 students with Bachelor’s Degree in various disciplines. This piece of information was given by the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olusola Kehinde, while speaking at the just-concluded 31st Convocation Ceremony of the University, held at the Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building, FUNAAB, Ogun State.
According to him, a total of 122 graduates out of this number got 1st Class Honours Degree, 1,540 were in the 2nd Class Upper Division, 1,705 in the 2nd Class Lower Division, while 187 had 3rd Class Degrees. Prof. Kehinde further disclosed that new programmes had been approved by the University Senate, saying they are currently being processed for approval by the National Universities Commission, with hope that the new programmes would take-off in the next academic session.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, who was represented by a Director in the Ministry, Mrs. Mofoluwaso Alade, disclosed that President Bola Tinubu had declared state of emergency on food insecurity in order to combat the rising cost of foods and its underlined causes. The minister, however, enjoined FUNAAB to fix itself at the forefront of the President’s vision, with admonition that “a university is not just a seat of learning, but also a breeding ground of innovation for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda”. Meanwhile, awards of Doctor of Science, Honoris Causa, were conferred on a former Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, and the co-founder of Guaranty Trust Bank, Dr. Tajudeen Fola Adeola, in recognition of their immense contributions to national development.
