The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, Prof. Olusola Kehinde, has said the institution admitted a total of 4,885 new students for the 2022/2023 Academic Session in strict compliance with the University quota, as approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Prof. Kehinde said this during matriculation ceremony of new students, at the Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building.
Giving the breakdown of statistics of the students admitted in each college, the Vice-Chancellor said the College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD) had 503, College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM) had 854, College of Biosciences (COLBIOS) had 368, while College of Engineering (COLENG) admitted 423, and College of Environmental Resources Management (COLERM) had 641. Others are the College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC), admitted 530, College of Physical Science (COLPHYS) had 648, College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT) had 666, while College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET) and College of Entrepreneurial and Development Studies (COLENDS) admitted 87 and 165 students, respectively.
Prof. Kehinde said the University has zero tolerance for anti-social behaviours and indecent dressing, as “sanctions such as expulsion, rustication and suspension can be meted out to any defaulting student. It is compulsory that students meet the 70% of class attendance to qualify for examination while a student, who does not register for a session earns withdrawal from the University”. The Vice-Chancellor stated that student unionism in the institution “is devoid of thuggery and hooliganism, but with decorum and constructive dialogue”. Prof. Kehinde, added that the institution “is committed to its vision and mission of producing graduates adequately equipped to handle contemporary challenges through cutting edge research for development in agriculture and science that is driven by Information and Communications Technology (ICT)”.
