The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Olusola Kehinde, has charged the non-teaching staff in the institution to have a sense of belonging and add value to the system. He gave this piece of advice while speaking at the orientation and familiarisation training for the newly-employed non-teaching staff of the University, held at the new Senate chamber of the institution. Prof. Kehinde noted that before anyone could add value to a system, he or she must be someone with value. Speaking at the programme, the Acting Registrar of FUNAAB, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu, thanked the University management for thinking it appropriate for the training to be organised, while urging participants to develop the right attitude to work, make punctuality their watchword, pay attention to the resource persons, and would be better personnel.
Delivering a paper titled: ‘Introducing the Workings of the University System and the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta’, the Head, Service Compact With All Nigerians (SERVICOM) Unit of FUNAAB, Mr. Adebayo Ogundimu, said the main purpose of the University’s existence was to facilitate the advancement of knowledge and development of high cognitive skills in its products. In order to achieve this, he said the University needed a workforce “that is ready to carry out its responsibilities, as expected”. In his lecture titled: ‘General Work Ethics and University Rules and Regulations’, the Deputy Registrar, Executive Affairs, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Moses Ayanda, said much was expected from the non-teaching staff of the institution, stating that all hands must be on deck to sustain the FUNAAB standards. Earlier, the Chairman, Organising Committee, Dr. Abdussobur Salaam, disclosed that the idea behind the training was to give the non-teaching staff basic knowledge on how the University system operates.
