The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Students’ Union (FUNAABSU) has said they are partners in progress with the University Management, to take the institution to greater heights. They made this known while featuring on FUNAAB Radio 89.5FM live interactive programme, Boiling Point. According to Comrade Habeebullahi Tijani, the Students’ Union President, the body ensures that all students have a good stay while on campus, stressing that the union was ready to assist fresh students to overcome challenges that may be facing on resumption. He stated that FUNAABSU engages students with special needs from time-to-time to see how they could help them while noting the union has had useful discussions with the institution’s management on this.
He explained that no FUNAABite should engage in illegal or unwholesome activities, because according to him “the students are responsible and responsive in character and learning. Skill acquisition is part of our agenda to train students on how to be self-employed and be an employer of labour”, he said. On her part, the Vice-President, Comrade Halimat Lawal advised students, especially those staying off-campus, to be vigilant at all times, saying if they noticed any strange movement, they should not hesitate to report to appropriate quarters. “We took fresh students on virtual orientation, and we are planning vocational, social and academic training, soon. Also, an orientation programme, on how to be of best behaviour, is being done in collaboration with the University’s Guidance and Counselling Unit”, she added. Lawal further charged students to call FUNAAB Health Centre on 08032979644, Harmony Police Division 08062834289, FUNAAB Chief Security Officer 08035647619, and SU President 09065784826, for emergency.
