Prioritise students’ welfare – Former FUNAABSU President
The immediate past Students’ Union President of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, Comrade Habeebullahi Tijani, popularly known as Kennyology, has admonished his successor to prioritise students’ interest and work with the University management in order to take the institution to enviable heights.
Comrade Tijani gave the admonition while featuring on FUNAAB Radio 89.5FM live interactive programme, ‘Boiling Point ‘. According to him, the new administration should endeavour to sample students’ opinions before making any decision, adding that every of their decision should be student-oriented. He urged the new SUG President, Meshach Nwanko, who is of the College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET) to always leverage on human relationships by running an all-inclusive government and also be partner in progress with the University management. He stated that his administration imbibed the culture of consultation, which helped them to avert any form of protest within the campus and the community in general.
Comrade Tijani, however, appreciated the University management, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Kehinde, for the immeasurable support and for always carrying them along in their plans. Reeling out some of his administration’s achievements, the outgone President said during FUNAABSU at 33 celebration, they gave scholarships to 35 indigent students and those that are outstanding; constructed 250-seater pavilion and eco-bricks project at the bus-stop; engaged in career opportunity training and mentorship programme, among others.
