Ogun CP promises tight security during Yuletide
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Abiodun Alamutu, has assured citizens of the state that they are going to enjoy peaceful celebration during yuletide. The Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, SP Omolola Odutola made this known, on his behalf, during a phone-in conversation on FUNAAB Radio 89.5FM live interactive programme, Boiling Point. According to her, the CP had reinforced security across the state by placing police men at strategic places for prompt response, not giving room for criminal elements to perpetrate their evil. SP Odutola warned Nigerians to desist from night journeys during this period for them to be safe, because there is little room for them to get any help in case there was vehicle breakdown.
The Ogun police spokesperson added that crimes assume higher pedestal during the yuletide because some lazy want to reap where they did not sow by dispossessing others of their valuables at gunpoint. “Normally, crime rate seems to increase during the yuletide because someone, who did not work since January suddenly wakes up in December and wants to enjoy what others, who have been working since January are enjoying. So, some of them would pull guns at people to dispossess them of their hard-earned valuables. This is wrong and unacceptable”, she added. The PPRO urged residents of the state to celebrate in moderation, stay out of crime, trouble and embrace peace to have a peaceful celebration. She called on every stakeholder to join the command in moving the state forward in securing and maintaining peace while advising motorists and commuters to cooperate with policemen during stop-and-search exercise at check points.
